MARANGU ROUTE 

Trip Summary: 6 days on the Mountain
THIS ROUTE HAS A MODERATE SLOPE, making it less difficult to climb. It is the most popular way up Kilimanjaro and is the only route with emergency evacuation service. It is also the only route offering dormitory style huts with dining rooms.

Itinerary Details

Day 1

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, transfer to accommodation in Arusha Hotel in Moshi bed & breakfast

Day 2

After breakfast, drive to Marangu gate and spend about two hours there for registration, payment of fees and final parking. From there we start  the climb through dense semi-tropical forest to Mandara hut (9,000 ft) where we will have dinner and spend the night ~ B, L, D

Day 3

After breakfast, we ascend through the alpine meadow, grassland and moorland to Horombo hut (12,000 ft). Both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks can easily be viewed on the way. There we will have dinner and stay overnight ~ B, L, D

Day 4

We spend the day acclimatizing at Horombo by hiking to the nearby Mawenzi and surrounding area then return to the hut for  a hot lunch ~ B, L, D

Day 5

After breakfast, we ascend further to Kibo hut (15,000 ft) where the landscape becomes very stony and eroded, and features spectacular mountain vegetation like giant cactus, groundswell and lobelia along the way. We dine and overnight at Kibo hut ~ B, L, D

Day 6

We wake up at midnight and, after a snack, proceed to the summit through Gilman’s Point (18,640 ft). It is about 5 – 6 hours from Kibo Hut to Gilman’s Point and 1 – 2 hours from Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak (19,340 ft). After reaching the peak in the early morning, the descent starts after picture taking on the top. We arrive at Kibo hut for lunch and a short break. Later we head to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight ~ B, L, D

Day 7

After breakfast, we descend from Horombo hut to Marangu gate. From there a waiting car will take you to hotel in Moshi ~ bed & breakfast

Day 8

Transfer to the airport for your return flight ~ B

6 DAYS MACHAME ROUTE

Trip Summary: 6 days on the Mountain

Itinerary Details
Day 1 Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport,
You’ll be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel in Moshi; hotel in Moshi.
Day 2 After breakfast, we drive from Arusha to Machame Gate (About 45 minutes). After registering and paying park fees, we start climbing along a clear trail through plantation and natural forest, and then follow a narrow forest path to the Machame Camp (9,000 ft) ~ B, L, D
Day 3 Today we ascend through the forest and along a steep ridge passing through heather and open moorlands. From there we cross a large gorge to Shira Camp (12,600 ft). This part of the trek is about 5~6 hours ~ B, L, D
Day 4 After breakfast, we will ascend to Lava Tower (15,180 ft) with lunch on the way to Barranco, and then descend into Barranco Camp (12,850 ft) for dinner and an overnight stay ~ B, L, D
Day 5 This morning, we leave for Barafu Camp (14,910 ft) where we pass through the last water drop at Karanga Valley on the way up. We overnight at Barafu Camp ~ B, L, D
Day 6 We wake up at midnight and, after a small snack, ascend to Uhuru Peak through the Stella Point (18,640 ft). After reaching the summit, we head down to Mweka Camp (10,010 ft) for dinner and overnight stay ~ B, L, D
Day 7 After breakfast, we head down to Mweka Gate with lunch packet, a waiting vehicle will take you to ~ B, L hotel in Moshi.
Day 8 Transfer to the airport for your return flight, or proceed onto a safari with us!

LEMOSHO ROUTE

Trip Summary: 7 days on the Mountain

Itinerary Details
Day 1 Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, transfer to accommodation in Moshi.
Day 2 After breakfast, we drive to the Londorosi gate for a few minutes of registration and other formalities. The 4WD will take you further up to Lemosho Glades, after which you will walk for about 4 hours to Mti Mkubwa Campsite (9,200 ft) for dinner and overnight at the camp ~ B, L, D
Day 3 After breakfast, we leave for Shira Plateau (11,550 ft), walking through the moorland’s steepening track. Dinner and overnight at Shira I Camp ~ B, L, D
Day 4 Today we continue to hike across the high desert to Shira II Camp (12,220 ft), with significant acclimatization effect as we go up the mountain ~ B, L, D
Day 5 After breakfast, we leave for Barranco Camp (13,100 ft) and spend the night there ~ B, L, D
Day 6 After breakfast, we leave for Barafu Camp (14,910 ft). We pass through the last water drop at Karanga Valley on the way up. Overnight at Barafu Camp ~ B, L, D
Day 7 Wake up at midnight and after a small snack, ascend to Uhuru Peak through the Stella Point (18,640 ft). After reaching the summit, we will head down to Mweka Camp (10,100 ft) for dinner and overnight ~ B, L, D
Day 8 After breakfast, we head down to Mweka Gate with a lunch packet where a vehicle waiting will take you to Springland hotel in Moshi ~ B, L

RONGAI ROUTE 

Trip Summary: 6 days on the Mountain
THIS ROUTE OFFERS BEAUTIFUL VIEWS of Kenya’s Maasai plains. This route is the least visited, thus offers a quiet environment and is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north. It offers a gentle gradient and has some unspoiled flora and fauna.

Itinerary Details
Day 1 Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, transfer to accommodation in Moshi on bed & breakfast.
Day 2 After breakfast, we drive to Nare Moru Village (6,500 ft) where the trek starts. From there we walk through the cultivated land and pine forest on the way to Simba Campsite (8,900 ft) where we camp ~ B, L, D
Day 3 Today we continue the hike via Second Cave to Kikelwa Camp. This trek offers impressive views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields on the rim of the crater. We carry on to Kikelwa Camp, (11,800 ft) where we camp ~ B, L, D
Day 4 After breakfast we leave for Mawenzi Tarn (14,150 ft). We spend the afternoon exploring the surrounding area which will help us to acclimatize; and camp for the night ~ B, L, D
Day 5 After breakfast, we cross the lunar desert of the ‘Saddle’ between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo campsite (15,000 ft) at the bottom of the Kibo crater wall. The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent ~ B, L, D
Day 6 Up early, we start for the summit scree up to Gilman’s Point (18,930 ft), which is on the crater rim. From there we go on to Uhuru Peak and then descend to Kibo Hut for a tea, soup and some snacks. After the short break, we descend to Horombo Hut (12,000 ft) and camp there ~ B, L, D
Day 7 After breakfast, we descend further to Marangu Gate. A waiting car will take you to your hotel in Moshi ~ B, L
Day 8 Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your return flight ~ B

MOUNT MERU 5DAYS/4NIGHTS

MOUNT MERU IS THE SECOND HIGHEST MOUNTAIN in Tanzania at 14,980 ft and the fifth highest in Africa. It is best to allow three days for climbing Meru since it involves an 11,483 ft altitude trek. There are two huts available to climbers on the mountain and firewood is supplied. The best time to climb Meru is between October and February. The mountain is usually climbed from Olkokola on the western side of the crater and you need a park ranger as an escort due to the threat of buffalo.

Day 1 Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet and transfer to hotel in Arusha;Out-post Loge on bed and breakfast.
Day 2 Transfers to Momella Gate (6,850 ft), registration of the climb, then start climbing up to Miriakamba Hut (8,370 ft) for dinner and overnight ~ B, L, D
Day 3 A hike up to little Meru is done in the late afternoon hours. Climb to the big valley then to Saddle Hut (11,710 ft); later back to Saddle Hut for dinner and overnight ~ B, L, D
Day 4 Final ascent to Meru Peak (14,980 ft) then descend down to Saddle Hut then to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight ~ B, L, D
Day 5 An easy walk to Momella Gate with arrival by 10:30 am and transfer to Arusha; Out-post Lodge ~ B, L
Day 6 Proceed with safari or be transferred back to the airport for flight home ~ B
